Tombstone American Legion Post 24 Family

What We Do

In 1919 the U.S. Congress in 1919, chartered The American Legion.  The American Legion reaches out via the local community post by standing true to national security, veteran’s affairs and rehabilitation, Americanism and youth. Roy Fourr Post 24, sponsors youth programs, advocates patriotism, honor, and continued devotion to armed forces service members and veterans. Post 24 sponsors a boy’s and girl’s state citizenship programs, a color guard, overseas troop support and veteran administration volunteer services.

The success of the post’s service support depends entirely on active membership, volunteerism, and most importantly, community support. The legion members dedicate themselves to a cause greater than themselves. Serving one another at the community level is the heart of the American Legion.  The local programs supported by Post 24 are:

Veteran Advocacy (The Outpost)
Veteran's Affairs and Rehabilitation (Homeless Outreach, Gifts to VA Hosp. Tucson, Blind Vets ?)
Memorial Poppies (Distribution, Poster Contest)
Community Service
Scholarships
Juniors Program (Activities, Girls State, Miss Poppy)
Special Events (Decorating the Legion, 4th of July balloon pop and raffle, Snowmen, hosting district meeting)

Bazaar
Children's Christmas Party

Children and youth (Patriotism, Ice Cream Social, Patriotism Class, Flag folding, etc.)

Pot Luck

Because we believe in America and what it stands for, "What We Do" is done to support the programs that who fought for America and our freedoms. The hard work, time from our families and dedication to do what we do,gives us a genuine feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction in doing something helpful for our Veterans and our community.

When we help someone in need, and do it as a group, we become part of a family. Our Post members work hand-in-hand with the Auxiliary (ALA), Sons of the American Legion (SAL), and American Legion Riders (ALR). When we sponsor an event for our Veterans or our community our Legionaires working along side of the other members of its family.  When the Post needs help, the ALA, SAL, and ALR step forward. We are more than friends, we are Legion family!
